Race is an Illusion

I have often wondered throughout my life as I have filled out applications for various things, why my race is something that the person reading the application would need to know. We are all equally capable of possessing the same skills and qualities which are also listed on the application. If the decision was based primarily on qualifications, why would they waste the ink to ask you about the color of your skin? In today’s multi-cultural society there is no doubt that every race is equally capable. Our qualities are derived from our biological lineage affected by micro-evolution. Though we may appear physically different, we are all human.

We are all sentient beings capable of conscious choice. The problem with separating people into categories based on physical appearance is that we generally associate more meaning to those categories than just physical traits. We apply stereotype to recognizable physical qualities and dehumanize individuals. We cannot believe as a society that the physical characteristics of an individual somehow imply intrinsic qualities. In a truly free, multi-cultural society every individual has the same human potential to evolve based on the efforts of their conscious choices.

There is an overwhelming amount of evidence suggesting equality among mankind. The fact that bigotry still exists today shows that many people are not just ignorant; they choose to be. The issue began as political leverage merely disguised as science, and those in favor of oppression and race superiority continue perpetuating ideas that become transparent the moment that they are perceived through the eyes of an unbiased observer.
